The Lao-styled delicious salad that is made with pork, duck, chicken and minced meat and is served with the most famous dish Laap- the blend of dry fried and crushed of rice grains, spices, and of course finely chopped meat. Don’t miss the chance to taste the dainty Pho soup that is easily available on all the eateries of Laos. This soup is very similar to that of Chinese soup that features the cut of meatballs, tripe, beef and check organs (heart, liver, tongue).

Laos truly acts as a heaven for vegetarians as there are plenty of yummy salad options. Plenty of raw green veggies are main part of the traditional Lao diet. The highly recommended dish is the watercress salad. Another favourite dish with the people is Tam Mak Houng and it can conveniently be found from the street vendors. The dish is made of fermented fish sauce, lime juice, sugar, peanuts, chili, garlic and green papaya. To make it more enjoyable and flavoursome, eat it with sticky rice as it is very much spicy.

It is also commonly called as ‘papaya salad’ in English and ‘somtam’ in Thai. Apart from these few options, the place features a lot more so get ready and pack up your belongings so that apart from exploring the magical and stunning sites of Laos, you must also taste its delicious food.
